Elizabeth Ann (Briedwell) Porter

porter-e-a

March 14, 1942 - February 18, 2023

Elizabeth Ann (Briedwell) Porter, a child of God, and Native American from the Choctaw tribe of Oklahoma was born to Bert and Lahoma Briedwell in Durant, Oklahoma of March 14th, 1942. Elizabeth, aka "Meme" was a fun loving, outgoing woman who loved the Lord very much. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and confidant to many. Elizabeth Ann went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on February 18th, 2023, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family- as was her final wish.

At a young age she relocated to Azle, Texas where she met the father of her three beautiful children. She became a passionate hairstylist who worked and owned several beauty salons throughout the span of over 30 years. She was a classy woman with strong morals who loved modeling, traveling, sun-tanning by the water and making memories with those she loved most. She also enjoyed watching her favorite tv shows, including Gunsmoke, Little House on the Prairie, Law & Order and The Shepherd's Chapel hosted by her favorite preacher Arnold Murray.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Bert and Lahoma Briedwell, her brothers William Briedwell, Ronnie Briedwell and Ray Briedwell as well as her daughter Barbara Ann Porter.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jeannie Tristan and Leslie Shoemaker, sons in law Mark Tristan and Jim Shoemaker, Her sister Patricia Briedwell, brothers Joe Briedwell and Timmy Briedwell, along with her 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services to celebrate Elizabeth's life will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow in Silo Restland Cemetery with Joey McDonald, Blake Morrison, Gary Clark, Brandon Carter, Richard Briedwell, and Jordan Millett serving as pallbearers.

As one of Elizabeth's favorite scriptures says in 2nd Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." We would like to give a special thanks to all family, friends, and coordinators for being here with us to celebrate the life of our Queen, Elizabeth Ann (Briedwell) Porter, may she rest in Heaven.
