Lura Peoples, a beloved daughter of her Lord Jesus Christ joined her Savior on June 19, 2021, at the age of 97. She was born in Silo, OK to Robert Earl Glenn and Lillie (Blakenship) Glenn on May 29, 1924. Lura married her beloved Pleasant Arvel Peoples in Durant, OK on October 20, 1939.
Family hour will be from 7-8:00 PM on Monday June 21st at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, OK. A celebration of her life will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday June 22nd at the Silo Baptist Church in Silo with Dr. Ray Earley and Bro. Dale Ballard officiating. Her final earthly resting place will be at the Restland Cemetery in Silo, OK with Tommy Williamson, Ethan Williamson, Bryan Proctor, Michael Proctor, Robert Dickerson, and Ronnie Slaten as her pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Glenn and Tommy Harris. The service will be made available for viewing via live stream on our Facebook page.
Lura was a devoted servant to her Lord Jesus Christ and active member of the Silo Baptist Church in Silo, OK. She was the oldest member. She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Lura was employed at Silo School and was lovingly known as the "Cinnamon Roll Lady".
Mrs. Peoples is survived by her cherished daughters, Sue Harlin and husband J. D. of Silo, OK, Billie Robinson and husband Donald of Silo, OK, and Betty Proctor of Dallas, TX. grandchildren, Sonya Davis, Tammie Harris and husband Tommy, Paula Williamson and husband Tom, Amy Robinson, Stacey Robinson, Ellen Proctor, and Bryan Proctor and wife Diana, she is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Ben Argo, Joe Davis, Erin Argo, Tommy Williamson, Ethan Williamson, and Michael Proctor.
Mrs. Peoples was preceded in death by her husband, Arvel Peoples, parents, Robert and Lillie Glenn, siblings, Robert Glenn, Wilburn Glenn, Bill Glenn, Virginia Slaten, and Eva Lee Hider, son-in-laws, Don Hopkins and Larry Proctor, grandson, Anthony Wayne Hopkins, grandson, Allen Davis and great-grandson, Anthony Veston Williamson.
