Gerald Lummus, 64 of Silo, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Calera Manor with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 10, 1951 at Lubbock, Texas to Aubrey Lee and Olivia Jane Smith Lummus.
Gerald grew up and graduated High School in Sundown, Texas.
He moved to Bryan county in September of 1985, and became very active in the community, and involved in the FFA and 4-H. After moving to Silo, he began a lifelong special friendship with Dudley Rowland and his family. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dudley and Winona for being such a wonderful part of his life.
Gerald loved to go camping and help the kids with their 4-H and FFA projects. His family was very dear to him, and he cherished spending time with them and his friends. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Believers Church in Durant with Pastor Michael Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Silo Cemetery.
Family hour will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Browns Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Hershel Williams, Dudley Rowland, Calvin Rowland, Greg Hughes, Jody House, Ryan Wickersham, Brandon Ledford and Mike West.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Lummus of the home; sons, Robert Lummus and wife Amanda, and Luke Allen and wife Robyn, all of Durant; daughters, Lisa Branch and boyfriend Tom Coker of Caddo, and Leslie Burns and husband Casey of Benbrook, Texas; brothers, Herbert Whalin and wife Loretta, and Ken Lummus and wife Sue, all of Silo; sisters-in-law, Jean Lummus of Sulpher Springs, Texas, Mikki Lummus of Sundown, Texas and Frieda Kennedy of Durant; mother-in-law, Gladys Kennedy of Durant; brother-in-law, Mike Kennedy of Pottsboro, Texas; grandchildren, Mason Branch and wife, Ashley of Bokchito, Candace Branch and boyfriend, Brett Berryhill of Mead, Casen Burns and Bentlee Burns, both of Benbrook, Texas, and Destiny Kenas of Durant; great-grandchildren, Tanner Belcher, Reyd Branch, and Marleigh Branch, all of Bokchito; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; one brother-in-law and one nephew.
