Mary Annette Biggers Hayes

Services for Mary "Annette" Hayes, 83, of Sherman who passed away June 2nd, 2025, will be at Brown's Durant Funeral Services in Durant OK, on Thursday June 5th, at 1:00pm. Viewing and breaking bread begins at 11:30am. Roger Speers will officiate. The burial will be in Silo Cemetery.

Annette was born in Bixby, Oklahoma, on May 25th, 1942, to J. C. and Dorothy Lee Biggers. She grew up on the family farm raising cattle, gardening and cooking.

She obtained a master's degree from NE State College in Tahlequah, OK. She married Billy Ralph Hayes on August 14th, 1965. They called New Mexico home for two years. After moving to Rialto, CA, they welcomed Chrystal Renee in December of 1968 and Melody Lynn in November of 1971. Rialto was home until moving to Oklahoma in 1979 and then to Sherman TX in 1981. Annette retired after 35 years of teaching elementary school and then began volunteering for area hospitals and nursing homes.

She was an avid quilter, winning many awards for her talent. She also kept busy running the Chrystal Opry House at Melody Ranch. Many bluegrass, country and gospel bands played while patrons enjoyed her cooking at the concession stand.

She is preceded in death by her parents J.C. and Dorothy Bigger; brothers Alva Lee and John Biggers and sister Rebecca Coffee.

She is survived by her husband Billy, her daughter Chrystal of Denton, TX and Melody of Naples, FL. Grandchildren include Nathanial Robinson, Elizabeth Halperin and Hayden (Gracie) Halperin.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hayes, Scott (Melody) Belanger, Elizabeth Halperin, Hayden and Gracie Halperin and Nathanial Robinson.
