Achille, OK- Martha Sue (Pendergrass) Withers was born Sunday, September 12th, 1948 in Brownwood, Texas to Marion Lee Pendergrass and Eleanor May (Banks) Pendergrass. She passed from this life and entered into the presence of her Lord on Sunday, July 14th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Martha grew up in the Mineral Wells, Texas area. She married Lawrence Larry Withers on December 23rd, 1974 in Durant. Martha worked several jobs in her lifetime such as waitressing, hairstylist, a seamstress, and being a caregiver to her husband Larry. Martha enjoyed sewing, growing and tending to her flowers, trying different recipes, and being with the grandkids and great-grandkids. Martha and Larry attended the Kemp Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Carl Lee Stout; and sisters and brothers.
Martha leaves behind her loving husband, Larry of the Achille home; children Susan Vail and husband, Max of Achille, Charlotte Tillery and husband, Sam of Sallisaw, Dottie Stout of Achille, and Marty Withers of Achille; two sisters, Velma Edwards of California and Wanda Copeland of Cartwright; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 20th, at Brown's Funeral Home chapel in Durant with Chaplain David Kautt officiating. Committal services will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Achille with Marty Withers, Max Vail, Sam Tillery, Austin Withers, John Cato, and Dakota Walker serving as pallbearers.
The Withers family will receive and greet friends on Friday, July 19th, from 6-8PM at Brown's Funeral Home in Durant.
