Lucy Long Stephenson

Lucy Stephenson a resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life and into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the age of 82. She was born in Commanchi, Oklahoma to Joseph Newton Long and wife Hilda.

Lucy was blessed to be married 3 times in her life. She shared her life with Sterling Marksberry, Gene Russell and James Stephenson. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. Lucy enjoyed sewing and cooking. But her greatest joy was her family and the time they spent together.

Mrs. Stephenson is survived by her children, Sterling Dale Marksberry of Melissa, Texas, Joe Allen Marksberry and wife Fredda of Durant, Oklahoma, Lanna Airrington of Austin, Texas and Gene Russell II of Durant, Oklahoma; brothers, Ronnie Long of Durant and Wilbur Long; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Stephenson was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Hilda Long; husbands, Sterling Marksberry and Gene Russell and James Stephenson; daughter, Geneva Kay Marksberry; son, Allen Dale Russell; brothers, Richard, Harold and Joe Long; sisters, Elsie Emge, Beatrice Wylie and Mary Long; 1 grandchild, Michael Terrelle. A gathering of friends and family will be from 7-8:00 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A funeral service in honor of her life will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with Dr. Michael Bradly officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Achille. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Marksberry, Steven Marksberry, Jeff Marksberry, Justin Marksberry, Luke Marksberry and Robert Senich.
