Betty Ray Albert Smith was born April 12, 1929 in Achille, Oklahoma. She passed away Saturday evening, January 9, 2016.

Betty is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Barbara Smith of Grove, Oklahoma and Glen and Liz Smith of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Sha Leigh Clark, Kristi Murphy and Parker Smith.

Her sister, Omega Floyd of Frederick, Oklahoma currently resides at Featherstone Assisted Living in Durant where Betty was also a long time resident.

Betty has many family members in the area and she loved them all.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, James "Jelly" Smith, her parents, William H. and Virgie Albert, brothers, Alva Albert, Dalton Albert, Raymond Albert and Dale Albert and her beloved grandson, Cory William Smith.

Betty had been a resident of Durant for over 30 years after moving home from Dumas, Texas where she lived for more than 30 years with her husband and raised her children.

Betty was admired by family and friends for her courage and strength in battling severely debilitating rheumatoid arthritis for more than 50 years. The pain and disability was never able to take her welcoming smile, laugh and love for her family and friends. She was loved by many and will be missed but not ever forgotten.

Gary, Barbara, Glen and Liz Smith are forever grateful to her friends, to our family of aunts, uncles and cousins who watched after and cared for her for so many years.

So much gratitude to Featherstone Assisted Living's staff for all the care and love they gave to our mother over the years. We are eternally grateful and she loved you and thought of you as her extended family.

We also would like to thank Guardian Hospice Care for their exceptional care in her final days and hours and a special thanks to Mays Home Health Care who provided loving care and support for our mother for over 26 years.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Rosewood Cemetery in Achille with Rev. Tim Ford officiating.

Family and friends will gather after the service at the Featherstone Assisted Living Community, Heartland Plaza, 1919 University.

Family and friends may send online condolences and view tributes at www.holmescoffeymurray.com.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, Durant, Oklahoma.
