A service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Hendrix Baptist Church for William Edward "Ed" Sliger, 64, Hendrix, who died Sunday, December 11, 2005, at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas. Rev. Bob McLean will officiate.

He was born Tuesday, July 29, 1941, in Woodville to William James Sliger and Maude Armenty Freeman Sliger.

He later moved with his family and was raised in Hendrix.

He married Joy Sinor December 5, 1960, in Durant.

He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service in the Armored Division. After 15 years of working as a mechanic, he retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He served in the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Hendrix Baptist Church.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was always good with this hands and liked to work on things.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Eugene Sliger.

He is survived by his wife of the home; daughter, Sherry Sliger of Hendrix; sisters, Joy McGee and husband Bill of Bennington, Janice Baker and husband Les of Achille, Sharon May and husband Bill of Kemp, Christina Armstrong and husband Harold of Durant; brothers, James Sliger and companion Norma of Oklahoma City, Paul Sliger and wife Bernice of Oklahoma City, Bobby Sliger and wife Jane of Durant; brothers-in-law, Sammy Sinor and wife Linda of Denison and Buck Sinor and wife Marie of Kemp as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Burial will be in Rosewood Cemetery, Achille, with pallbearers Aaron Sutterfield, Bernie Sinor, Marty Sinor, Leslie Baker, Mitch Baker and Paul Sliger.

VFW Post 3916 will conduct military rites at the cemetery.

Family hour will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at dhfh@communicomm.com.

Gordon-Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home, Achille, is handling the arrangements.
