Services for Ruth O. Hamby Simmons, 87, Yuba, who died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, in Denison, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Yuba Baptist Church.

Bro. Chet Haney will officiate.

Ruth was born Thursday, October 30, 1922, in Yarnaby to Earl and Cornie Williams Hamby.

She married Wenzlo Wilson Simmons on October 30, 1951, in Bennington.

She loved reading her Bible and was considered a Bible scholar by her family. She could answer almost any question they had.

She loved her family and enjoyed them being around. She will be missed by all.

She was also a member of Yuba Baptist Church.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Judy Diane Simmons and brother, James Welton Hamby.

She is survived by her son, Larry Simmons and wife Sandra of Yuba; grandchildren, Jason Simmons of Corpus Christi, Texas, Christopher Simmons of Murrieta, California, Stephanie Simmons of Hollywood, California, Crystal and Rachel Simmons of Huffman, Texas and Breanna, Alex and Victoria Simmons of Yuba; sister, Alene Horn and husband Jerry of Sherman, Texas and sister-in-law, Ileane Hamby of Benbrook, Texas.

Interment will follow at Rosewood Cemetery, Achille.

Family hour will be held today from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.

Services are under the direction of Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, Durant.
