Steven Frances "Picky" Schaub a resident of Sulphur, Oklahoma passed from this life at the VA Hospital in Sulphur, Oklahoma on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the age of 81 years 4 months and 3 days. He was born in Madison Lake, Minnesota to Oscar Joseph and Catherine Marcella (Vaughn) Schaub on Friday, March 11, 1932.
Steven "Picky" served this country and community proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 thru 1954. Picky was a member of the American Legion in Madison Lake, Minnesota.
He loved to care for and ride horses, and also enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family. Picky was married twice, first to Kay Yamamoto in 1956 by the Justice of the Peace in Long Beach, California, then Janice Randals in 1967. Picky moved to Oklahoma from Tucson, Arizona in 2010.
Picky is survived by his daughter, Shelly Montana of Victorville, California; granddaughter, Mranda Montana of Victorville, California; sisters, Flossie Shepard of Madison Lake, Minnesota, Ethel Hailey of Owtana, Minnesota and Sharon Hartung and husband Bob of Edina, Minnesota; brothers, Dan Schaub and wife Delilah of Calera, Oklahoma, Robert Schaub and wife Vernella of Rochester, Minnesota and John Schaub and wife Charlene of Pablo, Montana. Picky was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Catherine Schaub; brothers, Wally and Roger Schaub; grandparents, Frank and Florence Vaughn; son, Steven James Schaub.
Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 PM Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service to honor his memory will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with Rev. Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery in Achille, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Schaub, John Schaub, Dan Schaub, Gill Gilbert, Ray Gee, Jeremy Johnson and Renee Schaub.
