Truman Kelley Marris, a proud tribal member of the Choctaw Nation, was a resident of Achille, Oklahoma passed from this life on 12/11/20 at the age of 74. He was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Gilbert Marris and Bessie (Johnson) Marris on February 2, 1946. A celebration of his life will be held on December 28, 2020 at 10:00am at Achille Rosewood Cemetery, (graveside service only) officiating will be Bro. Wayne Bailey of the Grace Indian Baptist Church in Achille, Oklahoma. Military Honors will be provided by The Choctaw Indian Honor Guard. His final resting place will be the Rosewood Cemetery in Achille, Oklahoma. His honorary pallbearers will be Michael Marris, Reuben Marris, Tommie Marris, Noble Grant and Trey Grant.
Truman was retired, he worked as an apprentice at a local printing company and for the Choctaw Bingo/Casino in the early years as Security. Truman was a proud Choctaw veteran, honorably discharged from the Army National Guard in 1966. He was a fluent speaker in the Choctaw language. Truman Attended Grace Baptist church in Achille. He liked to watch football, visiting with his friends and to speak in the Choctaw language.
Mr. Marris is survived by his daughter, Donna Flores of Ada, Oklahoma, sister, Fannie Marris Grant of Tulsa, Oklahoma, nieces, Sheila Marris Johnson of Durant, Oklahoma, Marcella Grant and nephew, Noble Grant, Jr., both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, nephews, Michael and Reuben Marris both of Durant, Oklahoma, and nephew, Tommie Marris of La Puenta, California.
Mr. Marris was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Bessie Marris, brothers, Junior Lee Marris, Charley Glen Marris, Thomas Lee Marris and Woodrow Marris. Paternal grandparents, Sanderson and Lena Marris, maternal grandparents, Tatum and Marceline Johnson, Brother, in law, Noble Grant, nephews, Larry Marris and Hubert Lee Marris. The service will be available for viewing via live stream on our Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Facebook page. **The Family requests that masks be worn in attendance and social distancing be practiced.
