George Elbert Hopkins of Colbert OK, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 22, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Colbert OK on February 11, 1936, the son Joe Elbert Hopkins and Maggie Winnett Hopkins. He lived in the Colbert area his whole life. George was a true cowboy at heart. He was owner of Hopkins Rodeo Co. for over 40 years, producing rodeos in Oklahoma and Texas. He was also a cattle rancher his whole life and he was fortunate enough to raise several bucking bulls he could see perform on TV at PBR events. Raising bucking bulls was his passion. George was a Christian of the Baptist faith he was baptized on September 6, 1953, in the Red River at Carpenter's Bluff. He married Madeline Ellison on June 28, 1985, they were blessed to have each other for 37 years.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Joe Elbert and Maggie Hopkins; sisters, Nancy James and Sue Suber; brother-in-law, Thomas Suber.
He is survived by his wife, Madeline Hopkins of the home; son, Richard Hopkins and wife, Tonie of Colbert, OK; daughter, Cindy Carter and husband Jeff of Calera, OK; stepson, David Ellison and wife Frankie of San Antonio, TX; stepdaughter, Sharon Blotok; sisters, Beverly Clountz of Allen, TX, Norma Trammell and husband, Neil of Palo Pinto, TX; brother-in-law, Bill James of Uvalde, TX; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
