Even Gilmore a resident of Calera, Oklahoma passed away in Durant, Oklahoma on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the age of 80. He was born in Achille, Oklahoma on August 8, 1932 to Allen Eugene and Leona (Thompson) Gilmore. Even married Rosa Taylor in Sherman, Texas on May 24, 1955.
Even was very proud of his Choctaw Indian heritage. He enjoyed going to singings where he was known as "Boom Boom" because of his deep bass voice. Even was a sandblaster by profession while working for McDonnell Douglas when he lived in California. He was an active person who coached and played baseball and softball. He also found time to coach a men's and a women's basketball team. Even especially enjoyed playing dominoes with his buddies, watching old western movies, working puzzles and listening to the oldies station. He also likes to watch the Boston Celtics and New York Yankees baseball. Even will be missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Gilmore is survived by his wife, Rosa of the home; son, Kenneth Gilmore of Calera, Oklahoma; daughter, Debbie Gilmore of Durant, Oklahoma; son,Victor Gilmore of Ada, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Sgt. Tawny Mane Gilmore, Kenneth Lee Gilmore, Jr., Ronald Ross Bointy, Daniel Lee Gilmore, Josephine Rose Gilmore, Nicholas Gilmore, Kandyse Denyse Gilmore "Lil Duck", Kimberly Gayle Calnimptewa and Deann Hawk and Jeanette Hawk "Chicken Hawk"; 16 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Mr. Gilmore was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Leona Gilmore; son, Marlon Wayne Gilmore; brother, Elum Gilmore; sisters, Harriet Camp and Luddie Gilmore. Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Grace Indian Baptist Church in Achille, Oklahoma with Rev. Wayne Bailey officiating. Internment will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery in Achille. Pallbearers will be Rueben Marris, Joe Taylor, Jordon Taylor, Jay Riech, Adam Rigsby and Jeremiah Anna. Honorary pallbearers will be his domino buddies.
