Ronnie Gibson a resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the age of 50 years, 3 months and 14 days. He was born in Los Angeles, California to Donald Ray Gibson and Dessie (Johnson) Gibson on Sunday, February 17, 1963. Ronnie was a member of the Grace Indian Baptist Church.
He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. Ronnie enjoyed playing and pitching baseball and softball. He also played horseshoes and basketball when he could. Ronnie also served his state and community in the Army National Guard.
Mr. Gibson is survived by his mother, Dessie Hernandez of Hendrix, Oklahoma; father, Donald Gibson of Durant, Oklahoma; wife, Melissa Gibson of Antlers, Oklahoma; sisters, Carolyn Vasquez of Denison, Texas, Vicki Lechtenberg of Sherman, Texas and Maria Jeffrey of Sherman, Texas; brother, Jose Hernandez of Hendrix, Oklahoma; sister,Mildred Taylor of Calera, Oklahoma; step-father, Roger Hernandez of Hendrix, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Ruth Walter of Longview, Texas; brother-in-laws, Ronald Copeland of Longview, Texas and Don Copeland of Benton, Louisiana; nephews, Jon Copeland of Mississippi and Brandon Copeland of Benton, Louisiana.
Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Lucille Gibson and Marsaline Thompson Johnson; grandfathers, Sam Johnson and William Gibson; brother, Clifford Ray Gibson, Sr. Family Hour will be from 6-7:00 PM Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Grace Indian Baptist Church in Achille, Oklahoma with Rev. Wayne Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Achille. Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Hernandez, Miguel Vasquez, Jason Gibson, Jeremy McCain, Tony Gibson, Cliff Gibson, Tate Lechtenberg, Walt Jeffrey , Feliciano Diaz and Jose Hernandez.
