Funeral services for Wayne “A.W.” Ervin will be Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dalton-Holmes Chapel. Rev. Jacob Towes will officiate. Wayne was born Saturday, April 30, 1927 in Bowlegs, Oklahoma to Cecil G. & LaVada (Mayberry) Ervin. He passed from this life Saturday, March 27, 2010 at his residence in Calera, Oklahoma. Wayne served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947. He married Joy Mae (Presson) on December 26, 1953 in La Mesa, Texas.

In 1962 Wayne and his family moved to Calera, Oklahoma where he resided until his death. Wayne enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, and gardening. He enjoyed his work as a small engine mechanic, and worked for seventeen years as a machinist at John Mannsville before his retirement. He loved to pester his friends and family and will be missed by all who knew him.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil & LaVada Ervin; two sisters, Wanda LeWallen, and Cleta Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Ervin of the home; son, Joe G. Ervin, Tulsa, OK; son, Dwayne Ervin & Debbie, Texarkana, TX; daughter, Levada Woods & John Craghan, Carthage, MO; son, Jeremy Ervin & Kelli, McKinney, TX; grandson, Joe Ervin, Jr., Clinton, AK; grandson, Jason Collier, Norman, OK; grandson, Cory Collier, Durant, OK; granddaughter, Rebecca Ervin, Lewisville, TX; and three great grandchildren.

Interment will be at Rosewood Cemetery in Achille, OK. John Craghan, Kenny Ervin, Dwight “Corky” Staton, J.L Presson, Kevin Jackson, and Richard Poolaw will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Albert Livesay, Robert Dale Brown, Erwin Nix, Earl Jackson, Ronnie Harp, Larry Moss, H.D. Smith, and Donnie Hyde. Visitation will be Monday, March 29, 2010 at Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home from 7-8 PM.
