Marie was born on December 5, 1927, the daughter of Jim Anderson and Mamie Easter Purkey Anderson Dunning. She grew up, one of five children, on a farm in Albany, Oklahoma. Marie married Billy Joe Bishop on December 8, 1951 in Bonham, Texas. They were married for 69 year before her passing. Marie and Billy were quite the adventurous couple. They were members of a hunting club and often enjoyed hunting bear together. They also enjoyed fishing and traveling across the United States in their RV. Marie was a supervising foreman for a computer company. She built computer cables, some of which were used on the Apollo craft. After retiring, Marie assisted Billy and her son in the family business, BJ Bishop Painting. She kept the books mostly but would sometime assist the boys with the painting. Marie enjoyed sewing and quilting. Arts and crafts were a passion of hers. Most of all, Marie dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a hardworking woman, a loving mother and grandmother; she will be greatly missed. Marie is preceded in death by her parents, son, Ernest Lee Bishop, brothers, Chuck Anderson and Edward Beal; sisters, Dora Dean Russell and Billie Jean McEuen; and great grandson, Christopher Pierce.
Marie leaves to cherish her memories, husband, Billy Joe Bishop of Gordonville, Texas; son, Billy Bishop of Gordonville, Texas; daughters, Brenda Gordon and husband James of Canton, Oklahoma and Deborah Pierce and husband Randy of Longview, Texas; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
