Melba Cloetta Bennett, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma, passed from
this life, and joined her Savior on Friday September 8, 2017, at the age
of 90 years, and 14 days. She was born on August 24, 1927 in Sandy
Community, Texas to Henry Henson, and Edith Viola (Weaver) Davidson.
Melba married Charles Jennings Bennett, Jr. on October 21, 1944.
Melba lovingly cared for her home, and family. She was a member of the
Prairie View Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by her
sons, Charles D. Bennett and wife Linda of Tyler, Texas, and Ronald
Bennett and wife Connie of Durant, Oklahoma; sisters, Laverne Myers of
Denison, Texas, and Janell Loving of Gordonville, Texas; grandchildren,
Ruby Lynn King and husband Joel, Rhonda DeAnn Bowers and husband Kevin,
Larry Dean Bennett and wife Chasidy, and Sherry Dianne Brock and husband
Greg; great-grandchildren, Harry Franklin Shoemaker, III, Brittney Kay
Shoemaker, Caleb Wade King, and Skyler Lynn King.
Mrs. Bennett
was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Edith Davidson; husband,
Charles (C.J.) Bennett; grandson, Ronnie Dean Bennett; and sister, Lois
A. Anderson.
Family hour will be from 3:00 PM-4:00 PM Sunday
September 10th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant,
Oklahoma. A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Monday September 11th
at the Rosewood Cemetery in Achille, Oklahoma with Bro. Jeremy Parham
officiating.
