Samuel "Sammy" Lee Woodell

Samuel Lee Woodell was born on September 27, 1947, in Ada, Oklahoma to parents, Johnny Lee and Lillie Ruth (Cates) Woodell. Samuel passed from this life on July 9, 2024, in Denison, Texas at the age of 76. He graduated from Wapanucka High School and then proudly served his Country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1969-1971 until his Honorable Discharge. Samuel married Emma Cunningham on April 1, 1974, and they began their journey together raising their family. Samuel worked for many years as a police officer until his retirement. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church, VVA, DAV, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS, and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns and police shows.

Samuel is preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Lillie Woodell; son Johnny Lee Woodell; sister Sandra Joyce Wingfield; and grandparents Lanta and Woodrow Jones.

Samuel is survived by his loving wife Emma Woodell of the home; children Sammy L. Woodell and wife Sharella Woodell of Calera and Samantha Woodell of Calera; grandsons Johnathan Patrick Woodell and Elijah David Woodell both of Calera; niece Sandy Wingfield of Durant; nephews Duwayne Wingfield and Jason Wingfield both of Durant and numerous extended family and friends.
