Thomas Harold White was born on March 21, 1937 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to Thomas Homer and Emily Ruth Gibson White and passed from this life on February 26, 2013 at his home in Calera at the age of 75.
Thomas attended school in Mead and graduated from Calera High School.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1962 and the National Guard from 1963 to 1964.
He married Doris Christine Work on December 30, 1960 in Calera and they shared 52 plus years together.
He worked as a meat cutter for several retail stores and also owned and operated his own grocery store for many years and enjoyed gardening, making Native American crafts and he dearly loved his family.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Jess Rochelle; son, Charles Don White; sisters, Louanna Foreman and Helen Nading and brother, Laird Rochelle.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Doris Christine White of the home; daughters, Doris K. Smith and Julie R. Phillips and husband Wayne, both of Calera; sisters, Wilma Stuckey of Ardmore and Laverne Sharp of Calera; brothers, Jess E. Jr., Rochelle {Cody} and wife Pat of Bennington and Johnny Lee Rochelle and wife Gloria of San Diego, California, six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera. Bro. Kerry Groce will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
