Oneta Widner Ward

Oneta Ward, cherished mother and Nanny, joined her Savior in Durant, Oklahoma on Sunday March 29, 2020 at the age of 90. She was the daughter of Hasting and Grace Widner. She was born on January 12, 1930. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday April 1, 2020 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera, Oklahoma with Bro. Jacob Toews as the officiant. Her pallbearers will be grandsons; Joey Hobbs, Steven Potts, Stacy Jones, Brian Beaubien, Jim Ward, Earl Ward, Steven Hiser, Kayle Ward and Philip Lemonnes as the honorary pallbearer.

Oneta married Lonnie L. Ward on June 26, 1948 in Sherman, Texas. Oneta enjoyed gatherings with her beloved family. She cherished all the members of her family and considered them the greatest blessings of her life. She loved her church family at the First Baptist Church in Calera, Oklahoma. Oneta amazed people with her creativity whether it was cooking, sewing, or writing poetry. She also loved listening to Blue Grass and gospel music and travel.

Mrs. Ward is survived by her children; Regina A. Beaubien of Durant, Oklahoma, Deborah G. Odom and husband David of Durant, Oklahoma, Kenneth R. Ward and wife Ellen of Coleman, Oklahoma, and Mark E. Ward and wife Terri of Calera, Oklahoma. Her grandchildren; Tamera Ogden, Joey Hobbs, Steven Potts, Cody Odom, Heather Cloupek, Dana Hagan, Stacy Jones, Monett Gordon, Brian Beaubien, Steven Hiser, Jimmy Ward, Earl Ward, Diana Weger, Kayle Ward, Kendra Minchey, Krystyl Baker, and Destiny Noland. Oneta has 44 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many “adopted” family members.

Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lonnie L. Ward, parents; Grace and Hasting Widner, and her sister, Phyllis Chesnut.
