Mary Jane "Mama Jane" Simmons Thomas, a longtime resident of Roberta, Oklahoma, and beloved family member passed from this earthly life on Friday, July 10, 2015, at the age of 80 years, four months and 24 days.
She was born in Roberta, Oklahoma on Sunday, February 17, 1935, to Bill and Abby Roberts Simmons.
She married Eldon Boyd Thomas in Durant, Oklahoma on September 7, 1953. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2011.
Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She had many interests and hobbies over her lifetime, including reading, crossword puzzles, puzzles, listening to audio books and writing poetry. Jane loved and cherished her family and considered them her greatest blessing.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her daughter, Terri Albright and husband Billy of Durant, Oklahoma, grandsons, Cory Thomas and wife Laura of Alma, Arkansas, B.J. Albright and wife Erron of Durant, Oklahoma and Tim Albright and wife Nikki of Durant, Oklahoma, great-grandchildren, Colby Thomas, Macie Albright, Savannah Lorin Thomas, Emma Jane Albright, Katie Albright, Jolee Albright, Harper Albright, Whitney Albright, Carter Albright and Leah Albright; brother, Ed Childs and wife Mary of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Abby Simmons; husband, Eldon Boyd Thomas; daughters, Lisa Thomas and Lori Thomas and brothers, Roy Childs and Willee Simmons.
A gathering of her family and friends will be 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. today at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.
A chapel service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015, at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with Rev. Dale Ballard officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Albright, Cory Thomas, B.J. Albright, Tim Albright, Bradley Wilson and Brian Wilson.
