Ruby Lee Stephens, a beloved mother, and grandmother, left this life and joined her Savior in Denison, Texas on Friday April 21, 2017 at the age of 91 years 4 months and 15 days. She was born in Russell, Arkansas on December 6, 1925 to James Thomas and Ollie Francis (Meadows) Wells. Ruby Lee Wells married Matthew Stephens on August 7, 1945.
Ruby gladly dedicated her life to caring for her family, she cherished they times they spent together. She loved attending her church, working with her hands doing crafts, and the quiet solitude of fishing. Ruby has a soft heart for dogs.
Mrs. Stephens is survived by her beloved children, Gale Adams and husband Charlie of Cartwright, Oklahoma, Michael Stephens of Calera, Oklahoma and Monty Stephens and Gaye of Sadler, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ollie Wells; husband, Matthew Stephens; daughter, Viola Cowley; granddaughter, Tonya Cowley; along with three brothers, and four sisters.
Family hour will be from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday April 25th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A chapel service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday April 26th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel, with Larry Hall officiating, her grandson's will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will follow at the Rosehill Cemetery in Calera, Oklahoma.
