Services for Wendell Sexton, 75, of Calera, who passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008, in Denison, Texas, will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Parrish will officiate.

Wendell was born May 4, 1932, in Calera to Jay and Lena Belle Ash Sexton.

He attended school in Calera and married LaQuita Skaggs on January 18, 1952, in Madill.

He has lived all of his life in Calera except for a few years that he lived and worked in the oil fields in Odessa, Texas and has been a farmer and rancher. He also worked as a rural mail carrier for 34 years.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge and former member of the school boards of Calera and Mead.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Calera and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and watching horse racing. Wendell will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brothers, Joe and Gene Sexton and grandson, Cary Lance Williamson.

Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 56 years LaQuita of the home; son, Wendell Lee Sexton Jr. and wife Retha of Denison, Texas; daughters, Debbie Ritchie and husband Darren of Sherman, Texas and Renee Sexton and Gene Gage of Durant; grandchildren, Alicia Riggenbaugh and husband Steve of Keller, Texas, Bradley Wingfield and wife Amy of Durant, Shannon Lewis and husband Derreck of Little Elm, Texas, Leslie Sexton of Ft. Worth, Texas, Tristan Sexton of Durant, Nicole Brown of Pottsboro, Texas, Natalie Cox and husband Jeff of Sherman, Texas and Rami Ritchie of Sherman, Texas; great grandchildren, Braden Riggenbaugh of Keller, Texas and Katelyn Brown of Pottsboro, Texas; brothers, Don "Pete" Sexton and wife Elsa and Gerald Sexton and wife Barbara both of Calera; sister in law, Jean Ann Gilbert and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Gene Gage, Jeff Cox, Darren Ritchie, Brent Sexton, Bradley Wingfield, Derreck Lewis, Tristan Sexton and Steve Riggenbaugh serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

The family requests that any food be brought to the community room at the funeral home on Wednesday before 11:00 a.m.
