Mary Pauline Sample passed away from this life on October 31, 2018, she was 97 years old. Born on February 3, 1921 to John Robert (Bob) Williams and Virginia (Jennie) Mackey in Randlett, Oklahoma being one of 13 children.

She often wondered why she was the only one left, answering her own question by saying she must just be special. That she was special and unique. She lived her life pretty much on her own terms. She loved to entertain and cook many dinners for her family and friends. When asking why she would just say because she enjoyed doing it.

She and her husband, Elbert Jim Sample, who passed away at 82 years old, moved from Oklahoma to California in the early 40’s where they had three children: Jennie Maes, Kenneth Sample and James Sample. Following their retirement, they moved to Oregon, Arkansas and then finally back to Durant, Oklahoma to be closer to sisters and brothers.

Mary is also leaving behind five grandchildren: Gerald Wood, Pauline Wood, Neil Sample, Joanne Garcia and Barbara Sample. Seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Nannie and Poppa” spent much time with their grandchildren, taking them on camping trips and many other vacations.

She was loved by many and will not be forgotten.
