Roberta, OK- Alta Jean Prater (Williams) was born on Saturday, January 9th, 1954 at Denison, Texas to Clinton Eugene Williams and Alta Louise (Ramsey) Williams. Mrs. Prater passed from this life on Thursday, February 20th, 2025 in her home at the age of 71.
Alta came to Roberta in September of 1989 from Blue Ridge, Texas. She was married to Derril Prater who precedes her in death. Alta worked as a caregiver most of her life and her passion was taking care of people. She enjoyed the outdoors whether it was being in the garden, camping, or at a good fishing spot. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Alta was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Homer Prater; a sister, Sharon Davis; and brothers, Jackie Williams and Eddie Williams.
She leaves behind her children, Michael Littrell and wife, Michelle of Roberta, David Littrell and wife, Stephanie of Durant, Derril Prater and wife, Kitty of Cartwright, Telina Prater Johnson of Durant, and Melissa Prater Blakenship and husband, Terry of Vian, OK; her siblings, Eva McCarty of Roberta, Tommy Williams and wife, Deb of Geary, OK, Billy Williams and wife, Karen of Achille, Randy Williams and wife, Melinda of Big Cedar, OK, and Donna Prater and husband, Mark of Telephone, TX; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate Alta's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 25, at Brown's Funeral Home chapel in Durant. Pastor Paul Spittka will officiate. Interment services will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Ryan Littrell, Casey Littrell, Derril Prater, Chance Erwin, Robert Latham, and Kyle Farrell serving as casketbearers.
The family will receive and greet friends on Monday, Feb. 24, from 5-7 PM at Brown's Funeral Home in Durant.
