Retha Jean Hargrave Pate passed from this life on Friday morning, October 17, 2008, at her home in Durant with her children by her side. She was 74 years, 3 months, and 29 days of age. She fought a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born to Alta Ava Roy and Roy C. Hargrave on June 18, 1934, in Durant.
She married Bill G. Pate August 2, 1952, in Denison, Texas. To this union were born three children, Brenda, Mike and Neda.
She was a homemaker and spent most of her life in Durant.
Mrs. Pate was a member of the Stonecreek Baptist Church.
She enjoyed reading her Bible, spending time outside with her dog, Cocoa, talking on the telephone, and visiting with her friends and family. In her earlier years, she loved to sew and she was an accomplished seamstress. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Mike Pate and wife LaNita of Durant, Oklahoma, Brenda Schmidt and husband Lynn of Mead, Oklahoma, and Neda Weger and husband Gary of Hendrix, Oklahoma; her grandchildren Casey Weger and Kristy Howard of Hendrix, Oklahoma, and Britton "Bub" Weger of Hendrix, Oklahoma; her great-grandchild, Macey Weger of Hendrix, Oklahoma and her sister-in-law, Louise Alexander and husband A.G. of Mead, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Hargrave; husband, Bill Pate; mother and step-father, Alta and Leon Dubose and infant grandson, Lindsey Weger.
At her request services will be held at the pavilion in the Rosehill Cemetery in Calera, Oklahoma on Monday, October 20, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Fred Resz, pastor of the Stonecreek Baptist Church, will officiate.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband. There will be no family hour but viewing is available at the Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
