Harvey Joe "Jinks" Neal, 77, of Calera passed away Tuesday evening, April 7, 2009, at the hospital in Denison, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel in Durant. Bro. James Moss will officiate.
Harvey Joe Neal was born on May 8, 1931, in Bokchito, Oklahoma to Clifford H. and Dessie Mae Nolan Neal.
He attended Bokchito schools and lived the majority of his life in southeastern Oklahoma.
Harvey was a member of the United States Army.
He worked for Neal's store decorating the window displays and other displays about the store.
He had a passion for old cars and antiques but his favorite pastime was sitting with friends at the coffee shop and visiting.
Jinks never married but he had a special family who considered him their own. He was a dearly loved longtime friend of the Barkley family. He always enjoyed visiting with them and sharing his funny stories. He would bring over the horse any time the kids wanted to ride and even gave a drowned little pet duck "beak-to-mouth" resuscitation to calm an upset little boy {and the duck lived}.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sisters.
He is survived by his brother, Charles Clifton Neal and the Barkley family.
Family hour will be today from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Calera, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Barkley, Preston Barkley, Parker Barkley, Patrick Barkley, Ronnie Cubley and Kent Cryer.
