Betty McAlester Brewer Morriss entered this life on January 19, 1933 in Durant, Oklahoma born to Sim C. and Dinky P. Baker McAlester and entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2014 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 14 days.

Betty has been a lifelong resident of Durant and married Carl J. Brewer in May of 1947 and they were blessed with 47 years together until Carl's passing in September of 1994.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker to her family.

She was of the Baptist faith and she enjoyed quilting, reading but her great joy was her grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Sim and Pearl McAlester; husband, Carl J. Brewer; daughter, Charlotte Matthews; son, Lindell Brewer; and siblings, Marie Jackson, Home McAlester, Cecil McAlester, Alene McAlester and Lorene Short.

Betty is survived by her children, Mike Brewer and wife Regina of Durant, Wendell Brewer of Durant, Pam McDonald and husband Tommy of Durant and Carla Cottrell and husband Randy of Shawnee; sisters, Missie Shipman of Amarillo and Ann Stephens of Calera; grandchildren, Shelly Fields and husband Tony, Jason Brewer and wife Heather, Derek Brewer and wife Whitney, Matt Matthews and wife Laura, Chris Wagoner, Dana Wagoner, Aaron Cottrell and wife Lisa, Terah McQuire and husband Matt and Ryan Cottrell and wife Robin; eighteen great grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Pastor Lee Armstrong will officiate.

Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Matt Matthews, Jason Brewer, Derek Brewer, Aaron Cottrell, Ryan Cottrell and Tyler Fields serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
