Mary Frances Powell Minor, 74, of Durant entered into this life on March 31, 1935, in Pirtle, Oklahoma to Hughey Taylor and Ruby Doris Vest Powell and entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on November 25, 2009, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma.

Mary attended and graduated from Albany Public Schools and worked as a dietitian for Four Seasons Nursing Home for 22 years until her retirement.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter and friend to many.

Mary was a devoted member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Durant and she enjoyed collecting, bowling, spending time with family and friends and being active in her church. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and dearly loved her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Marie Potts and brother, Tommy Gene Powell.

Those loved ones left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Barbara Joann Simpson and husband James of Ozark, Missouri and Doris Christine Hedblom and husband Jon of Flower Mound, Texas; sisters, Naomi Ruth Crofford of Lake Dallas, Texas, and Justine Cleo Crofford of Sherman, Texas; brother, Hughey Wayne Powell of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kara Adriane Shelhamer of Wichita, Kansas, Justin Tyler Simpson of Ozark, Missouri, William Cody Simpson of Ozark, Missouri, Jordan David Simpson of Ozark, Missouri, Taylor Nicole Mohair of Corinth, Texas, Brett David Hedblom of Los Angeles, California and Cameron Jon Hedblom of Flower Mound, Texas; great-grandchildren, Logan Taylor Shelhamer, Micah Eugene Shelhamer, Navaeh Mohair and Brooqlyn Mohair; many other relatives and a host of dear and loved friends.

A celebration of Mary's life was held on Friday, November 27, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Durant. Pastor John W. Kinsey officiated.

Mary was laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Kara Adriane Shelhamer, William Cody Simpson, Jordan David Simpson, Cameron Jon Hedblom, James Simpson and Jon Hedblom serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society P. O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123 in Mary's name.
