Grace A. Halstead McCall, 93-year-old Denison resident, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Homestead of Denison.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 4 at Waples Memorial United Methodist Church in Denison with Dr. Jim Bowden officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera, Oklahoma.
Mrs. McCall was born on June 16, 1914 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Ralph and Minnie Halstead.
She attended Greenwood Elementary, Central Junior High and Central Senior High, in Kansas City and business college.
She married Spencer Ford McCall on September 1, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri and preceded her in death in 1992.
She worked for News Paper Investment, Providence Association {social worker}, all girls band, office of quartermaster general in Washington D.C., and Kansas City, Missouri, claims representative and Social Security Administration {retired}. Grace's most important occupation was that of a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as a young girl.
She became a member of Waples Memorial United Methodist Church in 1993, taught the Abundant Life Class, was alternate teacher of the Fellowship Class and a member of the UMW Deborah Group. She was also a lifetime member of N.A.F.R.E. and had been a member of National Sheet Music Association for 18 years.
Pallbearers will be Rick Stockman, Lloyd Capps, Clifton R. Ahhaitty, Abe Evans, Stephen Horton, John Lathum, Kevin Couch and David R. Couch II. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob McVeigh, Tom Hamilton, Clifton Ahhaitty, James Lathum, Emile Christopher Chalouhi and Chris Capps.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Allene and Clifton Ahhaitty of Denison, Marlene and Bob McVeigh of Calera, Oklahoma and Joyce and Tom Hamilton of Denison; grandchildren, Rick Stockman, Karin Couch, Cheryl Chalouhi, Mary K. Lathum, Clifton R. Ahhaitty, Carolyn Little, Helen Cox, Lloyd Capps and JoAnna Davis; great-grandchildren, Taunya Medler, Jeannie Westmoreland, Wendy Fulton, Abe Evans, Stephen Horton, Danika Millison, Misty Couch, David R. Couch II, Kevin Couch, Zomraude Chalouhi, Christopher Clahouhi, Paulette Chalouhi, Julie Chalouhi, John Lathum, James Lathum, Jennifer Lathum, Amber Ahhaitty, Trevis Ahhaitty, Mia Ahhaitty and Noah Williams; great-great-grandchildren, Dawson Medler, Hailee Medler, Steven Herd, Sherri Westmoreland, Chace Fulton, Tyler Fulton, Brady Fulton, Alexandra Millison, Garrison Millison, Tiffany Capps, Christopher Capps, Ryan Jones, Sienna Capps, David R. Couch III and Tyler Couch; and great-great-great-granddaughter, Harmony Crow; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Ford McCall; son, Joel L. Davis; mother and father, Ralph and Minnie Halstead; siblings, Edith V. Means, Florence "Sally" Pipkin, Clarence Halstead, Faye C. Custenborder, Wayne S. Halstead, Robert Halstead, Gladys M. Dove; grandson, Loren G. Williams and great-granddaughter, Kelsey Williams.
Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
The family will receive friends at Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard, Denison from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 3.
