Buddy William Manners

Buddy William Manners, Sr., of Calera, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on July 5, 1943, in Kiersey, Oklahoma, Buddy grew up to be a man of strong values and unwavering dedication to his family and work.

After graduating from Durant High School in 1961, Buddy married the love of his life, Nell, on June 17 of the same year in Sherman, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with joy, raising their sons and witnessing their family grow. Buddy's career spanned over three decades at Southeastern Electric, where he was respected for his work ethic and leadership as a Warehouse Supervisor.

Buddy's life was marked by his commitment to service, both as a minister and through his involvement as a Mason and Shriner. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence, guiding him in every aspect of his life. An avid outdoorsman, Buddy found pleasure in hunting and fishing, embracing the beauty of nature.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Nell Manners; sons, Buddy William Manners II and his wife Ann, Vincent Manners and his wife Leah; grandsons, Jyrred, John, Joshua, Braden, and Matthew Manners; granddaughter, Elaine Scarborough and her husband Kyle; and great-grandsons, Kaleb and Emmett. He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Manners; brother, George Manners; and grandson, Nicholas Manners.

Family and friends will gather at his Family Hour from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 in the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Winston Wilson officiating. Buddy will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery following his funeral service.
