LaWanda Andis Heil, 74, of Durant, was born Friday, February 16, 1934, in Lone Oak Community, east of Durant to J. B. and Annie Mae Howard Andis. She passed from this life on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, in Durant at the age of 74 years.
LaWanda and her first husband Bob Ferguson, spent most of their life in Texas before moving back to Durant to take care of her parents in 1980. Bob preceded her in death in 1988.
LaWanda worked as a receptionist for the Bryan County Health Dept. beginning in 1989 until her retirement.
She enjoyed crocheting, flowers, doing crafts, going to garage sales and doing for her family.
Church work was very important to her. She was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ.
LaWanda married Dan Heil in Durant on February 29, 1992.
LaWanda was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Natoma Hooper.
Survivors include her husband, Dan of the Durant home; son, Roger Ferguson of Lake Worth, Florida; daughter, Susan Flanagan and husband Kent of Durant, Oklahoma, son, Dan Heil Jr. and wife Donna of Hooker, Oklahoma, daughter, Beverly Krebs and husband David of Durant, Oklahoma, daughter, Annette Peoples and husband Kevin of Madill, Oklahoma, sister, Kay Miller of Durant; sister, June Devereaux and husband Merle of Durant; brother, C. B. Andis and wife Linda of Durant; sister, Mary Loftis and husband Wayne of Bokchito, Oklahoma, sister, Melba Graham of Durant; sister, Shelba Hammons and husband R. C. of Kemp, Texas; sister, Virginia Hansen and husband J. W. of Mesquite, Texas; as well as five grandchildren and one great granddaughter and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 30, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Northwest Church of Christ in Durant. Bro. Andy Burns will be officiating.
Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera.
Paul Mauck, Dwight Currie, Michael Graham, E. F. Hawkins, James Shields, Charlie Davis will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Ron Boyer, Marty Graham, and Corey Prentice.

Family hour will be Thursday night from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
