Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel for Arthur Harris, 93, of Calera, who passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008, in Denison, Texas. Bro. Tom Adams will officiate.
Arthur was born September 6, 1915 in Bennington to Buck and Lillian Morgan Harris.
He married Mary Pauline Philpot on October 24, 1934, in Bennington. She preceded him in death November 20, 2001.
Arthur was a member of the Calera Church of Christ.
He loved farming, having company and visiting with friends. He loved watching sports, especially the Sooners, Cowboys, Rangers and Mavericks. He loved to play baseball.
He was a longtime farmer of Bryan County. He was "Farmer of the Year" in 1972, an award and accomplishment he was extremely proud of.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Paula McLain and brother ,Richard Harris.
He is survived by daughters, JoAnn Gardner and husband W.T. of Bennington and Linda Harris of Durant, son, Michael Harris and wife Jeana of Calera, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Brown, Brian McLain, Brent McLain, Heath McLean, Todd Rolen and Austin Alaniz.
Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Calera.
Coffey-Murray Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
