John Wendell Hall entered this life on January 24, 1934, in Kemp, Oklahoma born to Talmadge and Effie Littles Hall and entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 13, 2010 in Plano, Texas at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 20 days.

John attended and graduated from Calera High School and then married his sweetheart, Janell Knowles on September 5, 1951 in Madill, Oklahoma.

John has lived in Bryan County all his life and has been a lifetime farmer and rancher. He was of the Baptist faith and he enjoyed spending time with family, friends, making wooden toys for children at Christmas time and his constant companion, his dog "Sissy". John will be greatly missed by all who knew and dearly loved him.

John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maudine Knowles, infant daughter and two infant granddaughters.

Those loved ones left behind to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Janell Hall of the home; son, Gary Hall and wife Phyllis of Colbert; daughters, Carolyn Ashley and husband Harold of Calera, Brenda McMurray and husband Ronnie of Sherman, Tammy Roper and husband Billy of Bennington and Lynn Buckner and husband Jackie of Bennington; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of dear and loved friends.

Services to celebrate John's life will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Calera. Rev. Jacob Towes will officiate with Rev. Heath Murrah assisting.

Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Jason McMurray, Steven Ashley, Preston Wells, Issaic Russell, Waylen Russell and Johnathon Buckner serving as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie McMurray, Michelle Cromer, Kassie Wells, Crystal Bevill, Teman Bowles, Benny Bowles and Gary Weger.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Texas Cancer Center.
