Billy Gene Grider Sr.

Billy Gene Grider Sr. was born on September 21, 1939 in Durant to Edgar Lloyd and Birdie (Rodgers) Grider and passed from this life on March 8, 2018 at his home at the age of 78. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. He married Estelene Jestis and they were truly blessed with 49 years together until her passing. Billy was a rancher all his life getting up at 3:00 AM to feed and he never met a stranger. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to his son, BJ play music, fishing and playing the machines at Choctaw. Billy was preceded in death by his wife Estelene Grider; parents, Edgar and Birdie Grider and brother-in-law, Earl Reynolds.

Billy is survived by his son, Billy Grider and wife Brenda of Durant; sister, Jo Ann Reynolds of Pesco, CA; grandchildren, Braylen Grider, Elizabeth Hill and husband Derek, Shane Brown, Nondas Hensley and husband David and Monica Blodgett; 13 great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 12, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. Anthony Williams of Grace Baptist Church will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Derek Hill, Shane Brown, Joe Reynolds, Floyd Stafford, Johnny Stafford and Ken Golden serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6-8 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
