Johnnie Dale Grant

January 6, 1946 ~ November 3, 2024

Johnnie Dale Grant, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, in Daingerfield, Texas, at the age of 78. He was born on January 6, 1946, in Bakersfield, California to David and Verna Mae (Moseley) Grant. On June 1, 1984, Johnnie married the love of his life, Patricia Boutte, in Nederland, Texas. Together, they blended their families, including three children, and later enjoyed grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Johnnie's life was a testament to the value of hard work and the importance of family. He dedicated many years to the open road as a long-haul truck driver, a profession that suited his love for travel and adventure. He took great pride in providing for his family while sharing stories of the places he'd seen and the people he'd met along the way. Johnnie's great personality enabled him to make friends wherever he went. His career in trucking allowed him to see all the states in the USA and Canada, except for Alaska, as he often mentioned. Although he spent much time on the road, he always returned home to his family. Aside from his trucking career, Johnnie's gift of gab led him to attend Auctioneer School, and he became a licensed auctioneer in the state of Texas.

Johnnie's sense of humor was legendary, often telling jokes, laughing, and enjoying life. He was the one who could always be counted on to lighten the mood with a well-timed joke or a funny story. Described as "the world's biggest agitator," he uniquely made everyone around him laugh. He was intelligent, charming, and a quick thinker. If he was picking on you, it meant he liked you. He was always there to offer advice and speak the truth when needed. Johnnie will always be remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

At home, Johnnie was the heart of his family. He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Patricia "Pat" Grant of Daingerfield, Texas. His legacy continues through his daughter, Nickie Grant of Yulee, Florida; his son, Dale Grant, and wife Melisa of Kingwood, Texas; his cherished grandchildren, Cole Grant, Tara Blackshear, and Marissa Green; and his adored six great-grandchildren. Johnnie also leaves behind his nephew, Johnnie Grant, his wife, Genia, his niece, Ann Lambert, and her husband, James, all of whom will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Grant; his mother, Verna Grant; his brother, David Grant; and his stepson, Dan Gentry.

Johnnie's presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His ability to find humor in every day, his intelligence in tackling life's challenges, and his unwavering commitment to his loved ones are qualities that will be remembered and cherished.

Family Hour will be held at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Johnnie's life will be held immediately following at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Jesse West officiating. All are welcome.

Those serving as pallbearers are Dale Grant, Johnnie Grant, James Lambert, Ronnie Barnwell (Clutch), Mark McCord, and T.H. Andrus.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 North 5th Street, Durant, Oklahoma 74701. www.holmescoffeymurray.comm
