Robert Glenn, Sr. a resident of Silo, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the age of 65. He was born in Durant on June 19, 1947 to Luther E. and Sara Louise (Dowdle) Glenn. Robert married Elizabeth Ann Hammond in Denison, Texas on May 21, 1968.
Robert served his country in the United States Army 9th Infantry. He was proud of his military service and was a member of the VVA, VFW, DAV and AMVETS.
Robert was employed by the United States Postal System and had his own Landscaping business. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. Robert was very artistic and expressed that through playing the guitar, and painting. He had a natural interest in his family history and spent many hours researching their Geneology. Robert loved being outside fishing and hunting. But more than anything else he loved his family.
Mr. Glenn is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Glenn of the home; son, Gary Glenn and wife Ronda of Sherman, Texas; daughter, Kathy Gooch and husband Joey of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Gavyn Glenn of Sherman, Texas, Kevin Holzbog of Denison, Texas, Trevor Holzbog of Great Lakes, Illinois and Joey, Jake and Katy Gooch all of Durant, Oklahoma; brother, Fred Glenn and wife Frances of Durant, Oklahoma, Clyde Glenn and wife Sue of Durant, Oklahoma and Paul Glenn and wife Ethel of Mena, Arkansas.
Mr. Glenn was preceded in death by parents, Luther E. and Sarah Louise Glenn; son, Bobby Glenn; daughter, Cindy Marie Glenn; brother, James L. Glenn. Family hour will be from 3-4:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.
A Funeral Service in his honor will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Fairview Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. Bill Ledbetter officiating. Internment wil be at the Rosehill Cemetery in Calera, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Brandon Boston, Corey Boston, Matt Hanna, Daniel Hanna, Mike McHenry, Nathan Glenn, Matthew Glenn and Justin Glenn.
