Wanda Ruth Shults Emerson was born on Monday, October 7, 1946 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Mabe and Edith Sylvia Bean Shults and passed from this life on Monday, December 31, 2012 at her home in Durant at the age of 66.
Wanda married James Edward Emerson on June 7, 1971 in Humble, Texas and they moved to Bryan County in 1984 from Houston.
She loved house decorating and spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Shults and grandson, Dustin Shrum.
Wanda is survived by her husband of 41 plus years, James Edward Emerson of the home; children, Donnie Alexander of Durant, Chris Alexander and wife Reta of Durant, Kimberly Layton and husband John of Maysville, Linda Mitchell and husband Greg of Durant, Pamela Emerson and husband Timothy Christopher of Durant, James Emerson of Durant and Lesley Arnold of Durant; brothers Wayne Shults and wife Melva of Porter, Texas, Kenneth Shults and wife Rita of Porter, Texas, Ronnie Shults and wife Diane of Bokchito and Jerry Shults and wife Susan of Livingston, Texas; sisters, Ann Owens of Durant and Betty Hammond and husband Johnny of Durant and seventeen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services to celebrate Wanda's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel.
Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with James Emerson, John Layton, Greg Mitchell, Timothy Christopher, Kaleb Mitchell, Austin Mitchell and Tony McGaha serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
