Services for Viola Stephens Cowley, 61, of Bokchito, who passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008, in Durant, will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Coffey-Murray Funeral Chapel, Durant. Rev. Bob McLean will officiate.

Viola was born Monday, October 13, 1947, in Russellville, Arkansas to Matthew and Ruby Wells Stephens.

She married Rick Cowley on October 10, 1969, in Denison, Texas.

Mrs. Cowley was a nurse's aide.

She was a member of the Reynolds Baptist Church in Bokchito.

She loved to crochet, needle point, arts and crafts and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed doing things for her family.

Viola was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Michael Cowley and wife Dawn of Joshua, Texas, and Matt Cowley of Durant; daughter, Tonya Cowley of Bokchito; her mother of Calera; sister and brother-in-law, Gale Adams and husband Charlie of Cartwright; brother and sister-in-law, Mike Stephens and wife Helen of Durant; brother, Monty Stephens of Pottsboro, Texas; granddaughters, Stormy Fritz and Brandy Morris of Joshua, Texas and grandson, Robert Fritz of Arlington, Texas.

Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Calera. Pallbearers will be John Cowley Jr., Marcus Stephens, Rob Cowley, Stephen Hargrove, Chris Doty and Devin Sanders.

Family hour will be today from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Coffey-Murray Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
