James Houston Clark, 83, of Calera, OK passed away at Medical City, McKinney, TX on October 15, 2019. James was born to John Andrew and Edna Clark in Cooper, Texas on January 16th, 1936. James attended school in Kensing, TX.
On July 13th, 1957 James married Viola Murlene Vest. James enjoyed riding horses with his grandkids, he was known for spending time with each of them getting them a Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew and a Snicker Bar and singing “She’ll Be Coming ‘round The Mountain or The Ole Grey Mare” on their drive home from school each day.
James is survived by: his wife Murlene of Calera; daughter Kimberly Cross of Calera, OK; granddaughter Tiffany Braddock and husband Matt of Collinsville, TX; grandson Joey Cross and wife Shelby of Troy, TX; grandson Barry Cross of Collinsville, TX; granddaughter Mandy Clagg of Tuttle, OK; great granddaughter Tatum Cross of Troy, TX; great granddaughter Colbie Braddock of Collinsville, TX; great granddaughter Collins James Cross of Troy, TX; great grandson Denver Clagg of Tuttle, OK; great grandson Dustin Clagg of Tuttle, OK; great grandson Logan “ Froggie” Smithart of Tuttle, OK and many nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his parents John Andrew and Edna Clark, his brother Elton Clark, sisters Florence Bangs, Louise Cook, and Roby Herndon, and his son James “Steven“ Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October the 19th at Abundant Life Texoma 1307 N. Washington Ave. Durant, OK. Burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Calera, OK.
Family will receive friends for visitation at Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant on Friday, October 18th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
