Services for Gaitha Myers Carlson, 97, of Calera, who passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Southern Pointe Living Center in Colbert, will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Durant. Pastor Russell Vardell will officiate.
Gaitha was born on Friday, May 5, 1911, to William Frank Myers and Maggie Cordell Myers in Ringgold, Texas.
Gaitha was the oldest member and a founding member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Durant.
She enjoyed crafts, yard work, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Gaitha was married to Alvin Scoggins who preceded her in death. She later married Archie Carlson, and he also preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, a grandson and three sisters.
Gaitha is survived by her sons, Joe Scoggin and wife Jesse of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Archie Carlson of Dallas, Texas, and her daughter, Joy Warren and husband Marvin of Wichita Falls, Texas, twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers will be Bryan Walters, Jim Vaught, Todd Carlson, Riker Warren, Allen Lewis and Michael Warren.
Interment will take place at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera after services.
Family hour takes place today from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home.
