Elly Joy Bledsoe a beloved family member and resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life in Moyer, Oklahoma on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the age of 80. She was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Jessie and Addie Lydia (Robinson) Smith on Wednesday, June 27, 1934. Elly married Charles Bledsoe in Durant, Oklahoma on September 4, 1964.
Elly was a dedicated servant of God and member of the Pentecostal faith. She committed her life to caring for her home and family. Elly loved babysitting and going to garage sales looking for a bargain.
Mrs. Bledsoe is survived by her sons, Lee Watkins and wife Debra of Caddo, Oklahoma and Bobby Watkins and wife Pewee of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter, Tana Bledsoe of Durant, Oklahoma; brother, Freddy McCarty and wife Betty of Cartwright, Oklahoma; sisters, Emily George and husband Richard of Caddo, Oklahoma and Clara "Dusty" Maynard and husband Robert of Moyers, Oklahoma and Billie Ruth of California; beloved grandchildren, Billy Watkins of Durant, Oklahoma, Thieman Watkins, Jr. of New Jersey, New York, Wendy Stringer of Denison, Texas, Ronnie Bledsoe of Durant, Oklahoma, Dustin West of Durant, Oklahoma, Elly Bledsoe of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Steven McMichael of Durant, Oklahoma, Candice McMichael of Durant, Oklahoma, Brittany Franks of Durant, Oklahoma and Autumn Davis of Durant, Oklahoma; 29 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Bledsoe was preceded in death by her mother, Abbie McCarty and step-father, Tom McCarty; husband, Charles Bledsoe; sister, Rosalee Broom.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 7-8:00 PM Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with Pastor Luke Battiest officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Calera. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Watkins, Thieman Watkins, Ronnie Bledsoe, Dustin West, Martin Frakes and Steven Bledsoe.
