Melba Gene Hobbs Anderson of Calera, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in her home at the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 19 days.

Melba was born on October 12, 1926 in Dallas, Texas to Robert E. and Hester Lee Whittemore Hobbs. She will be greatly missed by everyone who loved her dearly.

Melba was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Anderson; parents, Robert E. and Hester Lee Hobbs; daughters, Sharon Brooks, Charlotte Talburt, Cecilia Kennedy-Miller and Eva Jo Gore; and siblings, Dorothy Barnett, William Hobbs, Lucille Dollar and Buddy Hobbs.

The loved ones left behind to cherish her memory include her sister, Lillian Ragland of Blackwell, Texas; grandchildren, Jesse Miller of Calera, Oklahoma, James Kennedy of Dallas, Texas, Lacey Talburt of Garland, Texas and Phillip Kennedy of Cabot, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Chandler Kennedy and Savannah Kennedy; sons-in-law, Joe Miller of Calera, Oklahoma and Wendell Talburt with wife Lori of Van Alstyne, Texas; adopted children in love, Bobbie Ollie with husband Gary and Brenda Scalf with husband Butch; adopted grandchildren by heart, Shelby Lamb, Natasha Vinson, Garrett French, Dalton Bruce, Ashley Sims, Eric Shoemake and Morgan Miller; and dear friend, Harry Forster.

Melba and Charles Anderson were married October 12, 1947. They raised their children in Denison, Texas and also in Jacksonville, Arkansas while Charles was in the military. They moved to Calera, Oklahoma in 1978, where she later retired as a nurse at Calera Manor Nursing Home.

Melba was a devoted and loyal pastor's wife for many years when they presided over Raynal Tabernacle. She continued to be matriarch of that church when it became Trinity Fellowship Church.

For the past eleven years, Melba has been a devoted volunteer for the Calera Community Outreach Center where she touched so many people's lives.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera, Oklahoma. Roger Reynolds will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Wendell Talburt, Joe Miller, Jesse Miller, James Kennedy, Lacey Talburt and Carl Gore. Public viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
