Vada Lee Young, 80
A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dalton-Holmes Funeral Chapel for Vada Lee Young, 80, Durant, who died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at her residence. Bro. Wayne Talbot and Bishop Greg Hatch will officiate.
She was born Monday, April 20, 1925, to Clarence Lee Owens and Dorathy Mullens. She married Earnest Young July 21, 1953, in DeQueen, Ark. She was a lifelong resident of Bryan County. She graduated high school at Caddo. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved gardening, quilting, sewing, cooking and most of all being with her grandkids and other family. She worked in sewing factories and for Fashion Cleaners of Durant for many years. She then worked at Southeastern Electric Coop for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, Charlie and Lizzy Young.
She is survived by her husband of Durant; son Ronnie Richardson, Durant; daughters Sherry Speaks, Durant, and Terrie and Wayne Talbot, Battiest; grandsons Mikeal Richardson, Sherman, Texas, Jason Speaks and wife Heather, Tulsa, Matthew Talbot, Durant, Zachary Talbot, Battiest, Trenton Talbot, Battiest; granddaughters Kelly Angel and husband Jeff, Silo, Stacy Hyatt, Durant; great-grandsons Payton Richardson, Cartwright, Jarred Speaks, Tulsa; great-granddaughter Jordyn Speaks, Tulsa; and numerous cousins.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Caddo, with Joe Blackburn, Dustin Stepp, Larry Speaks, Dale Boyd, Randy Cloyd and Kevin Hodge serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Angel, Mikeal Richardson, Trenton Talbot, Zachary Talbot, Jason Speaks and Matthew Talbot.
Family hour will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
