Funeral Services for Melvin Ray Templeton, 75, Sanger, Texas, who died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at the Trinity Medical Center in Carrollton, Texas, will be held in the Brown's Funeral Service Chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Fred Waldrep will officiate.
Melvin was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Pampa, Texas, to Harm Templeton and Dora (Stanford) Templeton. He attended schools in Durant. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1947 through 1955. He was married to Glendola McLaughlin March 13, 1953, in Oklahoma City. Living in Oklahoma for most of his life, Melvin loved to build. Anything that had to do with working with wood, he loved. He loved being with his family, and especially his grandchildren. He was a self-taught artist and had a real passion for horses. Before retiring, Melvin was employed for several years by Oklahoma County. Everyone that he met fell in love with him. He was of the Church of Christ faith. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harm and Dora Templeton, three sisters and one brother.
Melvin is survived by his wife Glendola of the home; daughters Glenda Guyton of Sanger, Texas, Tina Isch and husband Gary of Guthrie, Janice Cox of Lexington, and Teresa Summer of Moore; son Donald Templeton and wife Deana of Sanger, Texas; sister Imogene Miller of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Armstrong, with Melvin Templeton, Donald Templeton, Donald Templeton Jr., Bill Brown, Joe Reagan, Daniel Templeton, Gary Isch and Stephen Barrett serving as pallbearers. Family hour will be at the Brown's Funeral Service in Durant today from 6- 8 p.m.
