Gary Jon Smith passed away Monday, August 8, 2011 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 64 years 9 months and 3 days. He was born on Tuesday, November 5, 1946 to Victor and Yvonne (Williams) Smith in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.Gary served in the Navy during the Vietnam conflict. He was a clerk for the Durant Post Office for many years. Gary enjoyed watching OU football and going fishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Heather Smith of Durant, Oklahoma; son, Grady Smith of Durant, Oklahoma; grandsons, Daelan Smith of Durant, Oklahoma and Landon Smith of Durant, Oklahoma; brother, James Smith of Durant, Oklahoma; sisters, Belva Hodge of Durant, Oklahoma, Vickie Frank of Denison, Texas and Cretha Taylor of Jones, Oklahoma as well as many other relatives and friends. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Yvonne Smith; grandson, Jon Linton.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. Mark Wesley officiating. Pallbearers will be Daniel Davis, Forest Wright, Ben Adams and Buddy Adams Jr. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Armstrong, Oklahoma.
