Billy Melton, a resident of Cartwright, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Monday, July 3, 2017 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years 3 months and 20 days. He was born on March 13, 1933 in Bennington, Oklahoma to Willie E. and Docie (Bell) Melton. Billy married Lorene Murray in Blue, Oklahoma on July 5, 1958.
Billy enjoyed producing an abundance of vegetables in his garden, pickling, and shelling pecans. He also liked to fish, junking, and mowing yards.
Mr. Melton is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Linzy and husband Thomas of Cartwright, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brittany Kennedy and husband Aaron of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Cheyenne Nelson and wife Angel of Durant, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Daxton Nelson of Durant, Oklahoma, Jaylnn Hamill of Silo, Oklahoma, Kason Wilson of Durant, Oklahoma, Braelynn Buck Nelson of Durant, Oklahoma, Tallon Buck of Durant, Oklahoma, Aiden Kennedy of Little Rock, Arkansas, Evan Kennedy of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Jerry Kennedy of Little Rock, Arkansas.
Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Murray Melton; parents, Willie and Docie Melton; mother-in-law, Birdie Murray; brother, Jimmy Melton; and sister, Mildred Gipson.
Family Hour will be from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday July 6, 2017 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Armstrong with Bro. Troy Phillips and Bro. Anthony Williams officiating.
