Mary Sue Longwell, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma went home to her lord and savior when she passed away in Durant, Oklahoma on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 20 days. She was born in Soper, Oklahoma, to Lane and Sue (Williams) Lester on Sunday, October 27, 1935. After meeting on a blind date, Mary married the love of her life David Emerson Longwell, Sr. in Soper, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 6, 1957, shortly after graduating from Harding University with a degree in Elementary/Early Education.
Mary was an elementary teacher and successful entrepreneur in addition to being a wonderful mother to her two sons. Mary was a teacher for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and Rock Creek School District. She also owned and operated the Little Tykes Day Care for several decades before selling the enterprise to retire. Once she retired, Mary was a full time loving grandmother to her three grandchildren. Mary was a register member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma as well as an active and devoted member of the 7th and Beech Church of Christ.
Mrs. Longwell is survived by her sons, David E. Longwell, Jr. and wife Sharon (Wilson) Longwell of Euless, Texas and Danny Longwell of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Laura, Cody and Matthew Longwell of Euless, Texas; brother Henry Lester of Antlers, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Longwell was preceded in death by her husband, David Longwell, Sr., her parents, Lane and Sue Lester; bothers Robert Lester, Frank Lester and Skeeter Lester; and sister Jo Ann Clark.
Family Hour will be from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM Monday February 20th before the service at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. The Funeral Service in her honor will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Armstrong, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be David Longwell, Jr., Danny Longwell, Laura Longwell, Cody Longwell, Matthew Longwell and Bradley Wilson.
