Marvin Andrew Hughes of Calera passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the age of 89. He was born on May 14, 1934 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Homer and Toy (Stephens) Hughes. He married the love of his life Rose Etta Sanders in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma in 1964.
Marvin was a hardworking carpet cleaner and janitor before retiring. He was skilled with his hands and enjoyed woodworking and knitting. Marvin was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Rose Hughes of Calera, Oklahoma, his son Richard Hughes of Wellston, Oklahoma, and daughter Venita Nutter of Ardmore, Oklahoma. His legacy lives on with his grandchildren Brittni Hughes, Jacob Hughes, and Natasha Hughes.
He is preceded in death by his parents Homer and Toy Hughes, as well as his son Tony Hughes.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel. Marvin will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery following his funeral service.
