Edgar L. Avants

Edgar L. Avants a resident of Durant, Oklahoma left this earthly life and joined his Savior on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at the age of 76 years and 7 months. He was born in Durant, Oklahoma on March 28, 1940 to Frank and Mattie Lou (Seago) Avants. Edgar married his true love, Ruth Ann Farrell in Durant, Oklahoma, on August 5, 1970.

Edgar was a member of the Mead Baptist Church. He retired from the Oklahoma Army National Guard after 40 years of dedicated service. Edgar was rightfully proud of his military career. He enjoyed attending church, and always looked forward to it. Edgar loved spending time with good friends, and especially eating a good meal out. He liked the quiet solitude of fishing, watching TV, and flying model air planes.

Mr. Avants is survived by his beloved Wife, Ruth Ann of the home; Step-son, Deon Quarles and wife Michelle of Calera, Oklahoma; Son, Chris Avants and wife Stacie of Mead, Oklahoma and Son, Perry Avants and wife Randi of Kansas City, Missouri; Brother, Jimmie Avants and wife Elena of Branson, Missouri; and 12 cherished grandchildren and one precious great grandchild.

Mr. Avants was preceded in death by Father, Frank Avants and Mother, Mattie Lou Avants; Brothers, Frank Jr., Billy Wayne and Bobby Gene; and Sister, Joyce Polson.

A family hour will be from 3-4:00 PM on Sunday, October 2nd at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant. A chapel service in his honor will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 3rd at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with Bro. Kerry Groce officiating. The pallbearers will be Wade Boyd, Brantlee Avants, Cameron Quarles, Matthew Quarles, Gavin Avants and Tony Weaver. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Caddo.
